CAPRYLIC ACID

Caprylic acid is a long-chain fatty acid naturally occurring in coconut. Because it is toxic to yeast and safe for humans when taken in prescribed dosage limits, it is often used as an antifungal agent in a yeast-control program by naturopathic physicians. It has the potential to trigger die-off, which can create problems if the symptoms are severe enough. Die-off occurs when yeast are killed and they temporarily release more toxins into circulation and make the patient feel worse before feeling better. Symptoms may range from mild to severe, and include fatigue, headaches, nausea, flu-like aches, malaise, itching, diarrhea, hives and nearly any symptom the yeast are known to produce.
